MORTUARY

Mabel Clear

Mabel Oraletha Clear, daughter of Ben and Leana Webb Clear, was born near Truman, Minnesota, October 3, 1911. Her early girlhood was spent in Minnesota and when 12 years of age she came with the family to the farm in Madison township, Madison county, Iowa which has since been her home.

After coming to Madison county she attended school in De Soto. Ill health forced her to give up her school work when in her second year of high school. She regretted this extremely as her school work was a joy to her.

After leaving school her health was not good, but she was ambitious to do all she could and she stayed in the office of B. D. Little for several months and was for some time in the North Side restaurant, where she made many friends.

She united with the Horican Church of Christ near Truman, Minnesota when a young girl and continued her membership there. Even during her years of ill health she seemed to be full of life, so jolly, and so friendly, that everyone loved her.

Her sickness became acute last October and she was taken to Rochester, Minnesota for treatment, but they were unable to help her and she returned to her home in November and since then has been a constant sufferer. She passed away in her home on January 5th, 1931, at the age of 19 years.

One brother, Henry passed away at the age of 19 in September of 1927 and another brother, Guy passed away at the age of 21, less than a year later.

She leaves beside her father and mother and younger brother, Claude in the home, one brother, Earl of St. James, Minnesota, and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Kitzerow of Northrup, Minnesota. She also leaves two grandmothers, Mrs. Nancy Clear of Truman, Minnesota, and Mrs. John Heibreeder of Winterset, Iowa.

Rev. J. Owen Smith, pastor of the De Soto and Fairview M. E. church and Rev. H. L. Olmstead of the Winterset Church of Christ conducted the service at Tidrick’s Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon, January 6th, and the interment was in the Winterset cemetery.
