July 2002Robert Lloyd McClurg, 92, died of a heart attack July 7, 2002, at West Bridge Care & Rehabilitation in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, July 10, at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham with Chaplain Gary Freeland officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.
Lloyd McClurg was born Feb. 4, 1910, to Robert and Ethel (Hartman) McClurg of rural West Des Moines. A 1928 graduate of DeSoto High School, he began farming following graduation from high school. On Aug. 17, 1940, he married Ila Bricker in Van Meter. They farmed in the Madison County area until their retirement in 1973, when they moved to DeSoto. In 1994, they moved to Winterset. Lloyd was a member of the DeSoto Golden Friends Senior Citizens Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter and two sons.
He is survived by his wife, Ila, of Winterset; a daughter, Carol Wachter (husband Gary) of Urbandale; a sister, Darlene Pryor (husband Ivan) of Carroll; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
