2002Mary Lou Wheeldon, 70, of Lorimor died of heart failure Aug. 17, 2002, at Greater Community Hospital in Creston.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 20, at Lorimor United Methodist Church with Pastors Sandra Smith and Joel Andrus officiating. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.
Mary Lou Wheeldon was born July 10, 1932, in Des Moines to Robert Ulysses and Eula Belle (Lesaon) Highland. She graduated from Stuart High School in 1950. On Aug. 14, 1954, she married Richard L. Wheeldon in Adel. After her marriage, she resided in Earlham for over 30 years and, for the past 20 years, Lorimor. Mary Lou was a member of the Lorimor United Methodist Church and former member of the Earlham Art Group. She had worked at Winnebago Industries for a few years and also authored a cookbook in 1993 entitled "Mary Lou's Candy Kitchen."
She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.
She is survived by her husband, Richard, of Lorimor; a daughter, Cheryl Erickson (husband Tim) of Lorimor; a son, Richard Wheeldon Jr. (wife Irene) of Martensdale; a brother, Raymond Highland (wife Betty) of Westerly, R.I.; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
