Services for Gladys Oglesbee Evans, 82, Winterset, who died Thursday, July 9 at the Care Center South where she resided were held Monday July 13 at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Clarence and the Rev. Zona Lautt officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.
Born in Scott township of Madison County on January 18, 1905, she was the daughter of Noah and Rosella Stevens Oglesbee. She was a retired practical nurse and had lived most of her lifetime in Madison County. On May 24, 1930, she was married to Henry "Lee" Evans at Newton.
Mrs. Evans was a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Pythian Sisters, Questers, Friendly Neighborhood Garden Club, United Methodist Women, Madison County Historical Society and Republican Women.
Survivors include daughters, Mae Swagel of Spokane, Washington, Rosalie Mower of Pueblo, Colorado, Valda Lynch of Fort Dodge and Donna Wendler of Iowa City; a brother, Harley Oglesbee of Lorimor; sisters, Nellie King of Kamrar and Versa Faust of Care Center South in Winterset; 12 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
