Retired Farmer Was 80 Years of Age; Lived 60 Years in County
Frank J. Eggleston of Winterset, died last Wednesday, Aug. 16, at his home in Winterset. He was 80 years of age.
Mr. Eggleston was a native of Rook's county, Kansas, where he was born Aug. 20, 1880, a son of Elijah and Tabitha Riegle Eggleston. But 60 years of his life were spent in Madison county, where he engaged in farming in Crawford township. He had been retired in recent years.
He was married Feb. 20, 1917, at Churchville, to Mary Laurette Egan, who preceded him in death.
Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jim Reimann of Booneville, Mrs. Drexel Lanze of West Des Moines, Mary Eggleston of Adel and Margaret Eggleston of Denver, Colo. He also leaves three grandchildren; and five sisters, Mrs. Harry McDonald, Mrs. Claude Clark and Mrs. George Thompson, all of Winterset, Mrs. Louvisa Gentry of Nebraska and Mrs. Joe McDonald of Artesia, Colo.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Aug. 19 from the Collins Funeral home, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the First Methodist church of Winterset. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery in Lee township.
