EVANS SERVICES HELD SATURDAY

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Wilson Funeral home for Mrs. Bertha M. Evans of Winterset, whose death had occurred June 11. The Rev. Robert A. Howlett, pastor of the First Wesleyan Methodist church of Des Moines conducted the services. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.

Mrs Evans was 79 years of age at her death. She was the former Bertha M. Jessup, daughter of Charles E. and Ora Owens Jessup. She was born Oct. 3, 1888, in Madison county and lived most of her life here.

She was a member of the First Wesleyan Methodist church in Des Moines.

She was married Dec. 21, 1904, to John Evans. His death occurred in 1946.

Surviving are a step-son, H. L. Evans of Macksburg; four children, Mrs. Katherine Palmer, Mrs. Ethel Givan and Charles E. Evans, all of Des Moines, and Mrs. Elizabeth Pinckney of Macksburg. She also leaves 26 grandchildren; 66 great grandchildren; a brother, Alvin Jessup of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Pearl Moe of Evansville, Wisconsin, and Mrs. Neta Stapel of Brookfield, Missouri.
