Well-Known Retired Farmer Dies Here at Age of 76 Years
Ray Edgington, retired farmer who had made his home in Winterset the last eight years, died Tuesday, Nov. 13 at a nursing home here. He was 76 years of age.
Mr. Edgington was born at Macksburg Feb. 13, 1886, a son of Andrew and Nancy King Edgington. His active life was spent farming in the Macksburg and Lorimor communities, until his retirement eight years ago.
He was a member of the Lorimor Methodist church.
Mr. Edgington was married Jan. 2, 1920, at Creston, to Winnie E. Kingery. She preceded him in death in 1954.
Surviving are three sons, Russell Edgington of Winterset, Thomas Edgington of Port Townsend, Wash., and Claire W. Edgington of Ankeny. He also leaves nine grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Kirkland of Macksburg.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. from the Macksburg Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. H. C. Short of Winterset, assisted by the Rev. Donald Frank. Burial will be made in Moon cemetery at Macksburg.
