VIRGIL E. EYERLY RITES AT EARLHAM

Long-Time Resident Here Died on June 14 at Mason City

Funeral services were held last June 16 from the Earlham Methodist church for Virgil Eyerly, formerly of Madison county, who died at Mason City, June 14. The Rev. Earnest Biatto officated the services. Burial was made in the Earlham cemetery.

Mr. Eyerly was 88 years of age at his death. He was a member of a well known Madison county family, a son of George and Martha Eyerly. He was born at Winterset on March 19, 1872. He was married Feb. 1, 1893, to Savilla Cutler. They farmed for 25 years, then moved to Earlham in 1918, living there until 1937, when they moved to Des Moines. In 1944 they moved to Mason City.

He was preceded in death by his wife; a son; eight brothers; and two sisters. He leaves a daughter, Mrs. T. W. McDonald of Mason City; a son, R. G. Eyerly of Lakeland, Fla.; four grandchildren; his step-mother, Mrs. Clara Eyerly of Winterset; seven brothers, Loren, Fred and Emerson Eyerly of Winterset, Jack Eyerly of Northfield, Ill., Lloyd and Sam Eyerly of Des Moines and Howard Eyerly of Brighton, Colo.; and two sisters, Mrs. Eldon Thomas and Mrs. Ralph Shoemaker of Winterset.

Virgil Eyerly, former Earlham resident, passed away at his home in Mason City Monday evening. Mr. Eyerly was 89 years of age. Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 16 at 2:00 p.m. at the Methodist church. Burial will be in the Earlham cemetery.

Services For Virgil Eyerly

Funeral services were held for Virgil Eyerly at the Methodist Church in Earlham Thursday, June 16, at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Baiotto officiated. Music was furnished by Mrs. Marlin Brittain, organist, solo by Mervyn McLennan accompanied by Mrs. McLennan. Pallbearers were Orris Eyerly, Kenneth Eyerly, Wilbur Eyerly, Eldon Thomas, Ray Schultz and George Sawyer. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.

Virgil E. Eyerly, 88, died early Tuesday morning at a Mason City nursing home. He had lived in Mason City 16 years.

Mr. Eyerly was born March 19, 1872 at Winterset, son of George and Martha Eyerly.

He was married to Savilla Cutler February 1, 1893. They farmed 25 years, most of this time in Madison County. In 1918 they moved to Earlham where they lived until 1937, when they moved to Des Moines. In 1944 they moved to Mason City.

Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. T. W. McDonald, Mason City; a son, R. G. Eyerly, Lakeland, Florida; four grandchildren: Mrs. Jules Gregory, Lambertsville, New Jersey, Mrs. William Goryl, Munson, New Jersey, Robert Eyerly, Detroit, Michigan, Roscoe McDonald, New Hampton; stepmother, Mrs. Clara Eyerly, Winterset; seven brothers, Loren, Fred, and Emerson, Winterset, Jack, Northfield, Ill., Lloyd and Sam, Des Moines, Howard, Brighton, Colorado; two sisters, Mrs. Eldon Thomas and Mrs. Ralph Shoemaker, Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his wife, a son, eight brothers and two sisters.
