FRED EYERLY OF WINTERSET DIES

Retired Farmer and Justice Of Peace Was 75 Years of Age.

Fred R. Eyerly of Winterset, member of a well-known Madison county family died Sunday, Jan. 31, at a Des Moines hospital, after a brief illness. He was 75 years of age.

Mr. Eyerly was born in this county Dec. 24, 1889, a son of George W. and Martha Howell Eyerly. Most of his life was spent in this county, engaged in farming. In later life, he moved into Winterset, and had served as justice of the peace here for about 12 years.

He was a member of the Methodist church.

Surviving are his wife, the former Nona Crow, to whom he was married in 1923; four sons, Frank Eyerly of Basehor, Kan., Ryman Eyerly of Denver, Donald B. Eyerly of Winterset, Gene Eyerly of Denver; three step-children, Wade Crow of Greeley, Colo., Gene Crow of Gore, Va., and Mrs. Paul Thompson of Des Moines; 18 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a brother, Loren Eyerly of Winterset; five half brothers, Emerson Eyerly of Winterset, Hugh Eyerly of Chicago, Howard Eyerly of Brighton, Colo., Lloyd Eyerly of Des Moines and Sam Eyerly of Des Moines; and two half sisters, Mrs. Eldon Thomas and Mrs. Ralph Shoemaker both of Winterset.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday afternoon from the First Methodist church of Winterset, and the pastor, the Rev. John C. Porath, officiating. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery.
