Alan "Hoss" Jerome Doyle, 63, of Winterset, died April 20, 2004, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday, April 24, at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with Father Chris Hartshorn officiating. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery with military rites performed by American Legion Post 184 and V.F.W. Post 8142, both of Winterset.

Hoss Doyle was born July 23, 1940, in Alta Vista to Adrian Joseph and Edna Marie (Still) Doyle and grew up in Des Moines. At the age of 17, he joined the United States Navy. Following his discharge from the service, he lived in Guthrie and Dallas counties until moving to Winterset in 1967. Hoss was an over-the-road truck driver with Cooper Trucking for many years. He was a former member of the Iron Dukes Car Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

He is survived by two sons, Mark Alan Doyle of DeSoto and Tony Doyle of Winterset; two brothers, Dean Doyle of Des Moines and Jack Doyle of Yale; and three grandchildren.
