ZELLA DOWNS OF ST. CHARLES DIES

Life-Long Resident There Was 82 Years of Age

Mrs. Zella Downs, a life-long resident of the St. Charles community, died Sunday, July 31, at the Madison county Memorial hospital in Winterset. She was 82 years of age.

Mrs. Downs was born near St. Charles on Aug. 6, 1877, a daughter of John and Alice Summerville Sankey. She was married April 29, 1896, to Frank Downs. His death occurred in 1934. One son, Cash Downs, preceded her in death in 1955.

She is survived by six children, Mrs. Mary Crawford of St. Charles, Carl Downs of St. Charles, Rex Downs of Boxholm, Don Downs of St. Charles, Dwight Downs of St. Charles and Mrs. Florence Eichner of Booneville. She also leaves 15 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and two brothers, A. N. Sankey of Winterset and Carl Sankey of Casper, Wyo.

Funeral services were held this Wednesday from the St. Charles Christian church, conducted by the Rev. W. C. Trembly. Burial was to be made in the St. Charles cemetery.
