Wrensel Rex Downs, 95, of Boxholm died Oct. 24, 1999, at Evangelical Free Church Home in Boone.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Oct. 27) at 1 p.m. at Carson Funeral Home in Ogden with the Rev. Chaitram Prashad officiating. Burial was at St. Charles Cemetery.

Rex Downs was born May 25, 1904, to Frank Edgar and Zella (Sankey) Downs of rural Hanley. The family moved to a farm near St. Charles where he grew up. He graduated from St. Charles High School in 1922. Rex married Vivian Barnett on Nov. 23, 1927 in St. Charles.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife.

He is survived by a daughter, Sara Downs of Des Moines; a brother, Dwight Downs of St. Charles; a sister, Florence Eichner of Booneville; 5 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be left for the discretion of the family.
