Barbara Jane Downs, 73, of St. Charles died of cancer February 14, 1994 at her home. Funeral services were Feb. 17, 1994 at the St. Charles Parish Church with the Rev. Ed Poston officiating the ceremony. Burial was at the St. Charles Cemetery.
She was born June 30, 1920 in Lorimor to Edwin and Lucy (Welch) Orris.
She married Harvey Paul Downs on November 28, 1940 in Peru. She was a homemaker and lived in St. Charles most of her life. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Rolling Wheels Camper Club. She was a member of the St. Charles Parish Church and the Christian Church Disciples of Christ.
Surviving relatives include her husband; four sons, Ed Downs and wife Janet of St. Charles, Howard Downs and wife Susan of Hinsdale, Ill., Steve Downs and wife Kim of St. Charles, James Downs and wife LuAnn of Ankeny; two daughters, Anne Johnson and husband Perry of St. Charles, Janice Howell and husband Ben of St. Charles; and seven grandchildren.
