Rachel Dowler, Boone

Rachel Dowler, 78, of the Eastern Star Home in Boone died at the Boone County Hospital on Mon. Sept. 28, 1992. Services were held Wed., Sept. 30 at.the Highland Park Christian Church in Des Moines, with Rev. Jim Robertson officiating.

She was born on February 9, 1914 in Winterset, the daughter of Abel and Effie (Snyder) Bishop. On December 27, 1939, she married Curtis E. Dowler at Maryville, Mo. Mrs. Dowler was a graduate of Winterset High School. She helped her husband operate the Dowler Restaurant when they lived in Winterset before moving to Des Moines where she was employed at Younker's Tea Room.

She was a member of the Highland Park Christian Church and the Order of Eastern Star, Auburn Chapter 449 of Des Moines, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a brother.

Survivors include a nephew and his wife, Gene and Joan Bishop of Ames and 13 great-nieces and nephews.

Graveside Eastern Star memorial services were conducted by Auburn Chapter 449 of Des Moines. Interment was in the Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines.
