HELEN STEWART, Indianola

Helen Lois Stewart, 76, of Indianola died May 28, 2006, at Ramsey Village in Des Moines.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 1, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Pastor Bobb Barrick officiating. Visitation will be held today (Wednesday, May 31) from noon to 8 p.m. at Collins Oak Park Chapel in Winterset with the family present from 6–8 p.m. Burial will be at Wallace Cemetery in Wick.

Helen Stewart was born Feb. 2, 1930, to Walter A. and Flora L. (Palmer) Shuff of St. Marys and grew up in Warren County. On Dec. 5, 1946, she married Dale H. Stewart in Princeton, Mo. She resided near Patterson from 1960 to 2004, when she moved to Indianola. Helen, a homemaker, also helped her husband farm. She was a member of the Patterson United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir, WSCS, and several bowling leagues.

She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son, Charles Stewart; a brother, Gale Shuff; three sisters, Mary Larson, May Baker Canine and Alice Nicodemus; and two grandchildren.

She is survived by four sons, John Stewart and James Stewart, both of Indianola, Gerald Stewart of Des Moines and Thomas Stewart of Cicero, Ind.; two daughters, Susan German of Peru and Sally Boswell of Des Moines; three brothers, Joe Shuff of Hudson, Fla., Walter Shuff Jr. of Grinnell and Larry Shuff of Carlisle; three sisters, Ann McDaniel of San Antonio, Texas, Phyllis Norgard of Carlisle and Peggy Holliday of Niobrara, Neb.; and 17 grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
