Marie Beverlin, 98, died of Alzheimer's disease March 20, 2001, at West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Winterset.
Funeral services were held Saturday, March 24, at the Peru United Methodist Church with the Rev. Dennis Shepherd officiating. Burial was at Lorimor Cemetery.
Marie Beverlin was born June 1, 1902, to Joseph Benjamin and Ruth Irene (Olmsted) Dowler of Peru. A graduate of Peru High School, she married Guy Slinker on Jan. 6, 1924. Mr. Slinker died Oct. 18, 1969. She later married Corwin Beverlin on Sept. 16, 1974. Marie had been a telephone operator and beautician and besides Peru, had resided in Clinton, Dubuque, Lorimor, Winterset and Minong, Wis. She had been a member of the Order of the Eastern Star of Winterset and the United Methodist churches in Lorimor and Peru.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Guy Slinker; a son, Harold Dale Slinker; a daughter-in-law, Eileen Slinker; and a brother.
She is survived by her husband, Corwin, of Winterset; two stepsons, Jack Beverlin (wife Helen) of Herscher, Ill., and Max Beverlin (wife Dorothy) of Orlando, Fla.; a brother, Harold Dowler (wife Genevieve) of Omaha, Neb.; a sister, Hazel Weber of Council Bluffs; a half-brother James B. Dowler (wife Toshiko) of Wood Dale, Ill.; five grandchildren; and 15 great- grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the family. Funeral arrangements were handled by Kale Funeral Homes of Osceola and Truro.
