Well-Known Resident of This County Was 74 Years Of Age
Mrs. Goldie M. Dooley of Winterset died Friday, June 4 at Memorial hospital in Winterset after an extended period of failing health. She was 74 years of age.
Mrs. Dooley was born at Lawrence, Kan., on Sept. 27, 1890 a daughter of Joseph and Clarabelle Perry McKenzie. She came to Madison county at the age of 2 years, and spent the remainder of her life as a resident of this county.
She was married in 1912. They engaged in farming in Lee township for many years. Mr. Dooley died in 1949. In recent years her home had been in Winterset.
She was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic church in the Irish Settlement and of St. Joseph's Catholic church since moving to Winterset, and of the Altar and Rosary societies.
She leaves three daughters, Mrs. Vincent King of West Des Moines, Sister Mary Sheila of Burlington, and Mrs. Carl Pierce of Des Moines; three sons, George Dooley of Winterset and Clarence and Francis Dooley of Prole; 13 grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Beryl Majors of Chicago; and a brother, Perry McKenzie of Downey, Calif.
Rosary services were held Sunday from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, led by Monsignor Higgins and by Father Francis Swift, S.V.D. of Techney, II. Funeral services were held Monday from St. Joseph's Catholic church, conducted by the pastor Msgr. John W. Higgins. Burial was made in St. Patrick's cemetery in the Irish settlement.
