LEILA WITT Services Saturday

Leila Arleen Witt of Lorimor died Wednesday, January 23, 1980, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines at the age of 54. Mrs. Witt had lived in Madison and Union Counties most of her life.

Born on May 17, 1925 in Clarke County, she was the daughter of Lee F. and Ester G. Honnold Wheeler. At the age of three, she moved to a farm southeast of Macksburg. She lived in Madison County, except for one year in Norfolk, Va., until 1952 when she moved to Union County. On November 7, 1949 she was united in marriage to Russell Eugene Witt in Albany, Mo., and her husband survives here.

A school teacher and housewife, Mrs. Witt was a member of the Methodist Church, Lorimor Lionels and was twice a Democratic delegate in Iowa.

Also surviving are four children, Gary Russell Witt of Tulsa, Okla., Larry Eugene Witt of Thayer, Arlen Lee Witt of Murray and LeAnn Marie Witt of Creston; her parents, Lee and Ester Wheeler of Lorimor; two sisters, Eva White of Torrington, Wyo. and Freda Rowe of Phoenix, Ariz., and a brother, Lee Wheeler, Jr. of Lorimor. She was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, January 26, at the United Methodist Church in Lorimor with Rev. Kathryn McDougal officiating. Burial was at Moon Cemetery near Macksburg.

Watts-Lindsay Funeral Home in Lorimor was in charge of arrangements.
