Death of Joe McKibban

Joe McKibban, well known resident of Winterset and Madison county, died at the Winterset hospital, early Monday morning, October 31st, at the age of 59 years. Mr. McKibban became ill last week and was taken to the hospital, on Friday. Late Saturday night, he was operated upon for gall stones and he died twenty-four hours later.

The Rev. A. R. Weed, pastor of the West Star and Worthington churches conducted his funeral services, at the Ramsey-Richards funeral home, Wednesday afternoon, at two o’clock and burial was made in the Winterset Cemetery.

Mr. McKibban, the son of Mr. And Mrs. Josiah McKibben (McKibban) was born in Monroe township, January 15, 1873. He grew to manhood in the rural community, near Winterset. His marriage to Emma Jane McDole took place February 26, 1902, and they started housekeeping on South Fourth Avenue, in the house, that has since been their home. One son was born to them and he died in infancy. They raised a nephew Albert Duff, who was as a son to them. For thirty-five years, Mr. McKibben engaged in the delivery business in Winterset.

He leaves his wife, two sisters, Mrs. A. W. Callison, of Earlham and Mrs. Walter Ross of Lorimor, and two brothers, Austin of Elliott, and Frederick McKibben (McKibban) of Lorimor. He is also survived by two aunts, and a number of cousins. More details of his life will be in the mortuary column next week.
