Orpha was born June 3, 1911 in Union County, Iowa, the daughter of Edward Clarence and Eva May (Harris) Younken. She graduated from Lorimor High School in 1930 and taught school in Union and Madison counties. She later married Dale C. Foreman on March 9, 1931 and to this union five sons were born.
In 1937, they moved to the Macksburg area where she became involved in a number of community affairs. She worked for the Union State Bank for 8 years and City Treasurer for 25 years. She was a member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church as a child and later transferred membership to the Lorimor Baptist Church. Most recently, she was a member of the Macksburg United Methodist Church, having played the piano there for many years. She was also a member of the Woman's Relief Corp.
Orpha is survived by her four sons, Donald Foreman and wife, Betty of Branson, Missouri, Gailen Foreman and wife, Barbara of Winterset, Merlin Foreman and wife, Jerri of Merino, Colorado, and Alan Foreman and wife, Nancy of Alamogordo, New Mexico; 14 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; 2 sisters-in-law, Maxine Younken and Wilma Goodman; and many more relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dale on December 1, 1966, a son, Dale Jr., who passed away at birth; two grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, Ivan Younken and Clarence Younken; and two sisters Iscle Pyle and Pearl Jeter.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Macksburg United Methodist Church.
