Two Sisters Die During Past WeekMrs. Albert Cameron and Mrs. Ellen Ross, sisters, who have lived in Madison county a number of years died here during the past week.
Mrs. Cameron, who was 73 years of age, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Fred Ham, west of Winterset, Friday, January 20th. Mrs. Ross went to the home during the illness of her sister, and there became critically ill with pneumonia. She was brought to the Winterset hospital the day of her sister's funeral and died here, Tuesday morning, January 24th, at the age of 83 years.
Mrs. Cameron was the former Rebecca McCord and was born in Oskaloosa, September 26, 1859. It is stated that her birthday is near the date of the organization of the United Presbyterian congregation at Oskaloosa, in which her father Robert McCord, took active part as an elder. She grew to womanhood on the farm, and taught school for a time. On November 22, 1883, she was married to James Albert Cameron, who brought her to live in Jackson township, on a farm a mile east of Pitzer. She took an active part in the church and community life and Mr. Cameron was an elder in the Pitzer church until they moved to Winterset in 1913. He died, March 25, 1924.
They were the parents of five children, Jessie Alberta died when three years of age. The children surviving are William Robert Cameron of Kansas City, Mrs. Nellie Ellen Ham of Winterset, Walter James Cameron of Marion and Arthur McCord Cameron of Winterset. She also left her sister, Mrs. Ross, who died soon afterwards, and two brothers, Robert of Des Moines and W. J. McCord of Chicago. She also leaves eleven grandchildren.
The Rev. W. C. Porter, pastor of the United Presbyterian church conducted her funeral services at the church Monday afternoon, January 23d and burial was in the Winterset cemetery.
