MRS. T. J. ROSS

Ellen McCord was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert McCord and was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on March 25, 1850. Her parents brought her to Iowa in the fifties and settled first near Oskaloosa. They came to Madison county immediately after her marriage to Thomas Jefferson Ross on December 25, 1872.

Mr. Ross was a school teacher, teaching mostly in rural schools. The latter part of their life was spent on the farm. Their home was blest by six children. They are: Charles Albert of Great Falls, Montana; Walter F. Ross, Lorimor; Mrs. Rebecca Callison, Grand Junction, Colorado; Robert L. Ross, Boone; Harry W. Ross and Mrs. Ada Hann, who died in 1925. There are 26 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren. Mr. Ross died in 1918.

Mrs. Ross joined the United Presbyterian church at Oskaloosa in young womanhood and transferred her membership to the Church of Christ of Topeka, Kansas, at the time of her marriage. She later transferred it to the church of Christ at Barney and later in 1927 transferred her letter to the Church of Christ at Winterset. She died on January 24, 1933, in the 83rd year of her age. She departed longing to see her Saviour and be with her loved ones particularly her sister, Mrs. Albert Cameron who preceded her to heaven but three days.
