LaVonna "Bonnie" Vaughan, 81, of Winterset died from complications of pneumonia Feb. 18, 2001, at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset.

Funeral services were held today (Wednesday, Feb. 21) at 10:30 a.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare in Winterset. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

Bonnie Vaughan was born May 8, 1919, to George and Elizabeth (Bane) Davis of rural Winterset. She married Louis Lester Swofford on Oct. 13, 1937, in Adel. She later married C. W. "Buss" Vaughan on Jan. 20, 1945, in Dexter. Before her marriage, she was employed by the Earlham School District in the lunch room. She attended the Earlham Friends Church when she was younger and later the Congregational Church in Creston. She was a former member of the Jolly Neighbor's Club in Creston. Bonnie had resided in Winterset since July 1999.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, three daughters, two brothers, a sister, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

She is survived by five children, Patricia and Ken Morris of Earlham, Milton and Donna Vaughan of Winterset, John Vaughan and special friend, Lois Reedy, and Barbara and Wyman Zellweger, all of Orient, and Donna and Richard Evans of Anchorage, Alaska; a brother, Marion Davis (wife Mary) of Des Moines; 19 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
