Funeral services for Wayne B. Detrick, 89, were held Wed., Nov. 28 at Overton Funeral Home, Indianola with Pastor James Patrick and the Rev. Ed Esler officiating. Detrick, died Mon., Nov. 26 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines.
Born November 25, 1901 in Anson to John and Mary (Davis) Detrick, the family moved to Winterset in 1905 where he attended public school. After graduation he attended Grinnell College. In 1922 following his father's death, he returned to Winterset to assist and support his mother. He was married to Ople Ryner on March 25, 1935 and they lived in Winterset until moving to Indianola in 1960. He had worked for Collins Funeral Home in Winterset and Overton Funeral Home in Indianola. He was later employed as a custodian for the Indianola public schools and for the U.S. Postal Service in Indianola. He was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church in Indianola.
Mr. Detrick was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.
Surviving are his wife, Ople; a daughter, Jani Heaivilin of Indianola; and two grandchildren.
Burial was at Winterset Cemetery. Memorials may be made to KIYA-KODA Humane Society in Indianola.
