Leonard E. Welch, 93, of Earlham, died Jan. 8, 2000 at Iowa Falls. Services were held at the Church of Christ in Earlham on Jan. 13 with burial at Earlham Cemetery.

Leonard E. Welch was born Feb. 27, 1906 in Polk, Ohio, to Herman and Mayme Laughery Welch. He attended country school in South Dakota. His family moved to Redfield where he graduated from high school in 1925.

He married Arlene Huggins of Redfield on Jun 5, 1928. The couple resided in Earlham until 1996 when they moved to Iowa Falls.

He was a member of the Earlham Church of Christ and served as an elder. He served as a fire fighter and council member. He volunteered with Boy Scouts and helped with the Red Cross in World War II.

He is survived by a daughter, Elaine Arrowood; a granddaughter, Julie Arrowood; a grandson, Brian Arrowood; a brother, Jim; his sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, a sister, Roceal, and his parents.
