Bessie M. Curnes, 95, of Winterset, died April 17 of leukemia at her residence. Funeral services will be April 20 at Collins Funeral Home in Winterset. The Rev. Bobby Dickerson will officiate the services and burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery. Visitation will be today, Wednesday, noon-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
She was born in Ute on Oct. 2, 1899 to Chris and Mary Christenson. She married Harley Curnes on Sept. 19, 1920. She was a homemaker and a resident of Madison county since 1925. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset.
She was preceded in death by her husband; one son; two brothers; and three sisters.
Surviving relatives include one son, Wayne Curnes and wife Kathy of Des Moines; one daughter-in-law, Evelyn Curnes of Winterset; one sister, Blanche Anderson of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the First Christian Church.
