Hold Final Services For Harold Anderson

St. Charles, Ia., Special, April 29 –

The body of Harold Anderson, who was drowned at Los Angeles April 18, arrived in St. Charles on Tuesday morning and was taken to the home of his sister, Mrs. L. K. Sayre. A clipping from the paper sent to the family told of Harold’s calling for help when he got beyond the breaker line and of a 13-year old boy going to his assistance and of two other boys coming to meet him and after battling with the waves for 30 minutes finally reached the beach only to find their efforts useless for life was extinct. The life guards and a physician worked over him with an inhalator for two hours in vain. The physician’s verdict being that he died from heart failure while struggling for his life.

He was a splendid upright young man, 23 years of age, a member of the Methodist church and his funeral was held Wednesday afternoon, the service being conducted by Rev. Mitchell. Many beautiful floral pieces were in evidence, some from his young California friends, showing the esteem in which he was held.

Those left to mourn his departure are his mother, Mrs. Carrie Anderson, Haywood, Wis.; two sisters, Mrs. Jennie Sayre and of this place and Mrs. Alice Coffman of Texas, who could not come; one brother, Gilbert of Des Moines; and William, who was with him in Los Angeles and who was unable to be present. The pall bearers were Donald and Rex Downs, Forrest Faust, Kenneth Downs, Fon Shutt and Harold Arnold, all class mates of the deceased.
