Long-Time Resident Here Dies at Columbus Junction
Mrs. Hattie DeMar, a resident of Winterset and Madison county most of her life, died Sunday, February 7, at a nursing home in Columbus Junction, where she had lived the last several years. She was 95 years of age.
Mrs. DeMar was the former Hattie Fisher, daughter of L. L. and Mary J. Church Fisher. She was born in Madison county June 27, 1869.
She was married Sept 7, 1893 in this county to W. G. DeMar. His death occurred in 1942.
She had been a member of the Scott township Community Circle since 1943.
Mrs. DeMar is survived by two daughter, Vivian DeMar of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Mrs. David R. Jones of Columbus City. A son, Owen DeMar, preceded her in death. She also leaves four grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset, conducted by the Rev. John C. Porath, pastor of the First Methodist church here. Burial was to be made in the Clark cemetery.
