Forest E. Day, Winterset

Forest Everett Day, 99, of Winterset died from complications of a stroke Oct. 16, 1998, at the Good Samaritan Center in Indianola.

Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 19, at the First Christian Church in Winterset with Dr. Bobby Dickerson officiating. Burial was at Murray Cemetery.

Forest Day was born June 23, 1899, in Des Moines to Charles W. and Eliza (Leasure) Day. He married Elizabeth "Betty" Haller on Sept. 30, 1946 at the Ozarks in Missouri. He spent most of his life in Clarke and Madison Counties. Forest was a retired farmer and employee of the C B & Q Railroad. He was an Army veteran of World War II and a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset.

He was preceded in death by his wife and two brothers.

He is survived by six nieces, Gloria Cochran, Thelma Toni German, Gerry Putney, Helen German, Deloris Reasoner and Patricia Manahl; and four nephews, Marvin Morris, Darrel E. Morris Sr., Charles Morris Sr., and Phillip Day Jr.
