Wayne E. Swallow, 82, of Earlham died of cancer Jan. 8, 1999, at Kavanagh House in West Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Monday, Jan. 11, at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham with Pastor Alberta Ervin officiating. Burial was at Earlham Cemetery.

Wayne Swallow was born Feb. 5, 1916, in Booneville to Harry and Tessie (Everett) Swallow. He spent his youth in Booneville and graduated from Van Meter High School. He married Lucille Reiman on Jan. 17, 1941. He worked for 33 years as a bulk station agent for Standard Oil Company until his retirement in 1974. He also worked for the Booneville Coop for several years. Wayne was a member of the American Trapshooting Association and the Earlham Methodist Church. He had previously served as a volunteer fireman.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Gary (wife Betty) of Grand Island, Neb., and H. Dennis (wife Vicki) of West Des Moines; one sister, Betty Geist of West Des Moines; and three grandchildren.
