Wayne Davis, Lorimor

Wayne J. Davis, 82, of Lorimor, died of a renal ailment Dec. 27, 1996 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services were Dec. 30 at the First Baptist Church in Winterset. The Rev. John Shaull officiated the services and burial was at the Lorimor Cemetery.

He was born in Union County on Dec. 10, 1914 to Dell Ora and Millie Myrtle (Emery) Davis. He married Fyrne L. Honnold on Sept. 16, 1939 in Winterset. He was a retired farmer and had been a rural school teacher for three years. He was a resident of Madison County for 68 years, having come here from Union County. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winterset and had served as the Madisonian Lorimor weather reporter for several years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers.

Surviving relatives include his wife; one son, William Wayne Davis and wife Patricia of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two daughters, Mildred Irene Kirk and husband John Larry of Lorimor, and Sandra Faye Harper and husband John Wayne of Lorimor; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Middle River Hospice in care of the Madison County Memorial Hospital.
