Carl Datwyler, Winterset

A funeral service was held Friday, Aug. 13, at Collins Funeral Home for Carl Vannatta Datwyler, who died at his home on Aug. 11. He was 75 years old.

Born in Buckley, Illinois on Dec. 31, 1906, he was the son of John and Leona Vannatta Datwyler.

A self-employed carpenter, he spent most of his lifetime in Madison County.

He was married twice. On Feb. 4, 1926, he married Carrie Fulton, who died in 1963. He married his second wife, Louise Briggie, on Oct. 10, 1964. She passed away in November of last year.

Preceding Mr. Datwyler in death were his parents; a brother, Glen; and a daughter, Delores Miller.

Survivors include three daughters, Maxine Miller of Peru, Carolyn Dillinger of Victor and Phyllis Rickets of Ranole, Washington; a brother, Wilson Datwyler of Peru; four sisters, Edna Wolverton and Laura Clague of Winterset; Irene Spencer of Peru and Velma Struve of Irwin, Ia.; 13 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren.

Rev. Janne Clinton officiated at the funeral service. Burial was in St. Charles Cemetery.
