January 1999W. Ben Clausen, 66, of Dexter died Jan. 3, 1999, at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines following recent surgery.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Jan. 6, at Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter with Pastors Carl. M. Droegemueller of Greenfield and Linden Wendzel of Dexter officiating. Burial was at Dexter Cemetery.
Ben Clausen was born July 27, 1932, on the family farm south of Dexter in Madison County to Richard and Ruby (Roberts) Clausen. He was a 1950 graduate of Dexter High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict, rising to the rank of staff sergeant of the Air Force Police. While stationed in England in 1953, he married Mollie Palmer. After serving in the Air Force, Ben farmed for a short time. He then was employed as a truck driver, retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Dexter and the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Greenfield.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
He is survived by one son, Benny Clausen of Greenfield; one daughter, Dyan Schaffer of Des Moines; one brother, Jim Clausen of Dexter; one sister, Zelda Paullin of Greenfield; 10 grandchildren and .......
