Dorothy G. Kress White, 81, of Earlham died of pneumonia on Tuesday, May 19, 1998 at University of Iowa Hospitals in Iowa City. Funeral services were held May 22 at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham. Burial was in the Van Meter Cemetery. Kuhn Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. White was born Jan. 2, 1917 in Lucas County. She married Lloyd Kress and they owned and operated several restaurants in Des Moines.

They retired in 1957 and moved to a farm near Van Meter. After Lloyd's death in 1964, Mrs. White moved to California, where she married Tom White. After his death in 1975, she returned to Iowa and resided in Earlham. She was the first resident of Madison Manor Retirement Home.

Mrs. White is survived by one son, Jim Kress of Earlham; one brother, Harold James of Indian Springs, Nev.; three half-brothers, Dale Neubauer of Ralston and Richard Neubauer of Lineville; two half-sisters, Betty Stinson of Iowa Falls and Patricia Towne of LaPorte City; one granddaughter, Jennifer Weber, Earlham; one grandson, Jeff Kress, Omaha, Neb.; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a sister, a brother and a great-grandson.
