Mable Westphal, 84, West Des Moines, died of cancer on Thursday, July 23, 1998 at Kavanagh House on Grand Ave. Private graveside services were held at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery near Van Meter. Fisher Funeral Home in Van Meter was in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Westphal was born May 7, 1914 in Winterset to Guy and Mae Addy. She married John E. Westphal and they farmed near Earlham for about 60 years. She had lived in West Des Moines for the past five years. She was a homemaker and belonged to Trinity Lutheran Church near Van Meter.

Mrs. Westphal is survived by one son, John H. Westphal of Des Moines; two daughters, Patricia Spillers of Elk City, Okla. and Janice Kirk of West Des Moines; two brothers, Dale Addy of Des Moines and Ralph Addy of Boise, Idaho; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1993, three sisters, Blanche Lemon, Frances Hayman and Edith LeCocq, and four brothers, Jack Addy, Paul Addy, Ray Addy and Alex Addy.
