1998Thelma Marrion Van Devender, 89 of Winterset died Monday, Feb. 16, 1998 from complications from osteoporosis at the Winterset Care Center South. Private graveside services were held Feb. 19 at the Earlham Cemetery, with burial following the service. Arrangements were made by Kuhn Funeral Home of Earlham.
Mrs. Van Devender was born Sept. 5, 1908 in Mt. Cla(ir) Ind. to Claude and Myrtle Slavens Marrion. Her family moved to Earlham when she was a young girl. Mrs. Van Devender graduated from Earlham High School in 1928.
Mrs. Van Devender married Wilbert L. Van Devender on Jan. 22, 1938. The couple moved to California for __ years before returning to Earlham in 1970 after retirement. Mrs. Van Devender was a resident at the Winterset Care Center South for six years.
Mrs. Van Devender is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Van Devender was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Janice Ashton; and her twin sister Velma Sloan.
