At the outbreak of World War I, he enlisted in Winterset's Company A, 168th Infantry regiment and served overseas in France with the famous 42nd or Rainbow division. He was wounded in action, during the battle of the Aisne-Marne on the western front.

Following the war he attended Grinnell college for one year and St. Louis university for two years.

Mr. Creger served many years in the Madison county treasurer's office, first as deputy and then for three terms as county treasurer. He later engaged in the insurance business in Winterset, and in recent years in sale work.

He was married April 17, 1928, at Sioux Falls, S. Dak., to Beatrice Schoenenberger of Winterset, who survives him.

Mr. Creger was an active member of the American Legion over a long period of years, also the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the World War I Veterans. He was a member of the Masonic lodge. His church affiliation was with the First United Presbyterian in Winterset.

In addition to his wife, he leaves a son, John M. Creger of Minneapolis, Minn.; and three grandchildren.

Funeral services were to be held this Wednesday at 2 p.m. from the First United Presbyterian church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. John E. Fink. Burial was to be made in the Winterset cemetery with military honors at the grave-side.
