Wanda Crawford, Truro

Wanda Marie Crawford, 71, of Truro, died July 16, 1997 at Mercy Hospital Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services were July 19 at Kale Funeral Home in Truro with the Rev. John Long officiating. Burial followed at the St. Charles Cemetery.

She was born September 2, 1925, in White Oak Township in Warren County. Her parents were John Wesley and Fern (Bedwell) Lucas. She attended St. Mary's Grade School and Indianola High School, as well as attending Simpson College for 2 years. On December 6, 1945, she married James C. Crawford in Albert Lea, Minn. She was an office manager for a medical office in St. Charles and helped run a family business, also working in plumbing and heating, and hardware as well as a restaurant. She was a resident of Truro since 1977. She was a member of the Presbyterian Church in State Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, one brother, and two infant brothers.

Surviving relatives include her husband; three sons, Rick Crawford and wife, Donita of State Center, Regg Crawford and wife Brenda of Minneapolis, Minn., and Russ Crawford and wife Karla of Des Moines; one daughter, Randy Love and husband Bob of Nashville, Ill.; one sister, Arlene Waters and husband Dick of Corning; one brother-in-law, Keith Crawford of Truro; five grandchildren; and three great-granddaughters.
