Lester M. Craven, 85, of Des Moines died Feb. 21, 2002, of diabetes and Alzheimer's disease at USA Health Care Center in Madrid.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Feb. 27, at Iles Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial was at Winterset Cemetery.
Lester Craven was born Feb. 27, 1916 in Madison County to Roy and Stella (Beem) Craven. He was a 1934 graduate of Winterset High School. Lester was a retired bellman with the Hotel Savery. A Navy veteran of World War II, he also was a member of the First Christian Church in Winterset and United Commercial Travelers.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and a brother.
He is survived by his wife, Martha, of Des Moines; a son, Larry Craven of Sierra Vista, Ariz.; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mid-Iowa chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
