Life-Time Resident of This County Was 83 Years Of Age
Mrs. Myrtle I. Craven of Winterset, a life-time resident of Madison county, died Thursday, Nov. 2, at a Des Moines hospital, after three weeks as a patient there. She was 83 years of age.
Mrs. Craven was born in Madison county Aug. 11, 1884. She was the former Myrtle Parkins, daughter of Stephen and Lovina Reigle Parkins.
As a young woman she was married to William E. Bentley of Winterset. His death occurred in 1952. On Oct. 6, 1953, she was married to J. M. (Roy) Craven, who survives her.
She was a member of the First Christian church of Winterset and was active in the Christian Women's fellowship of that church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by a brother, Allie Parkins of Winterset; two sisters, Mrs. Eva Guiberson of Des Moines and Mrs. Nellie Johnson of Florida; a stepson, Lester Craven of Des Moines; two step-daughters, Mrs. Lela Ballard of Douglas, Wyo., and Mrs. Letha Jackson of Winterset; four step grandchildren; and three step-great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Monday from the First Christian church at Winterset, in charge of the pastor, the Rev. William E. Bowles. Burial was made in Jefferson cemetery.
