Pearle Esta Hill, 89, of Dexter, died Wednesday, Nov. 5, 1997 of cardiac arrest following a short stay at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. funeral services were held Friday, Nov. 7 at First Presbyterian Church in Dexter with a private family interment in Earlham Cemetery. Funeral arrangements were made by Kuhn Funeral Homes in Dexter.

Mrs. Hill was born Aug. 29, 1908, near Storm Lake, the daughter of John and Della Hiner Lenhart. She graduated from high school and then completed her bachelors degree from Iowa State University in 1931. She taught Home Economics at the Earlham and McCallsburg Schools.

On Sept. 7, 1940, she married Howard Hill in Storm Lake. They farmed in the communities of Storm Lake, Chariton and Earlham for much of their married life. She was also employed at the Dexter Clinic and Hospital as the autoclave operator, sterilizing all the surgical and medical exam instruments. She was a long-time member of the Earlham Presbyterian Church, the Dexter Presbyterian Church and had been a member of the Presbyterian Women's Organization.

Survivors include her sister-in-law, Gladys Ross of Dexter and several nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Hill was preceded in death by her husband and daughter, JoAnn Hill.
