Howard Lester Hill, 86, of Dexter, died of pneumonia Sept. 27, 1997 in Des Moines. Graveside memorial services were Sept. 30 at Earlham Cemetery with the Rev. Shirley Lockard officiating the interment of the cremains.

He was born June 5, 1911 in rural Earlham to Lester and Nellie (Fleming) Hill. He married Pearle Lenhart on Sept. 7, 1940. He worked at an Iowa State University research farm for several years before retiring in 1974. He was also a member of the Earlham Presbyterian Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter; and two brothers.

Surviving relatives include his wife; and one sister, Gladys Ross, of Dexter.
