Charles Melton was born in Knox County, Illinois, January 14th, 1855. In the year 1863 he came with his parents to reside in Adair County, Iowa. During the last 45 years he has made his home with his sister, Mrs. Robert Duff.

He departed this life at 8:00 o'clock December 24th, 1923, after his enfeebled constitution suffered a severe sudden attack, being 68 years, 11 months and 10 days in age.

The deceased was an honest, well meaning, respected citizen, whose days were spent in strenuous farm work in the community.

Three sisters with other relatives are left to mourn his departure, they are: Mrs. Lenna Cowden and Mrs. W. H. Melton of Wessington Springs, South Dakota, and Mrs. Robert Duff, of Earlham, Iowa.

Charles Melton, almost 69 years old, a brother of Mrs. Robert Duff, died at her home on Monday of last week. He had made his home with his sister for several years.
