Mrs. Cary G. Waugh Dies

Mrs. Cary G. Waugh, who has been in poor health, committed suicide by hanging, Friday, June 5th, at her home, near Barney. Mrs. Waugh, who was 58 years of age, was the former Miss Mary Simpson. She was born in this county, and has always made this county her home.

She was married to Mr. Waugh, September 25, 1900 and he and three children survive her. Elza Ayres Waugh of Barney, Veda Rickets of Lorimor, and Harriet, who is still at home. She also leaves three grandsons, two sisters and five brothers.

The Rev. H. L. Olmstead, pastor of the Winterset Church of Christ conducted her funeral services at the Barney Church of Christ, Tuesday afternoon, June 9th at 2 o’clock and burial was made in the Barney cemetery.

Mary J. Waugh

Mary J. Simpson, daughter of Antipas and Harriet Simpson was born in Madison county, Iowa, November 29, 1872 and departed this life June 5, 1931, aged 58 years, 6 months and 7 days.

She was united in marriage to Cary G. Waugh September 26, 1900. To this union four children were born. Eliza Ayres Waugh of Barney, Veda Rickets of Lorimor, and Harriet who is still at home. The third child George Simpson Waugh died in infancy, June 29, 1911.

Besides her husband and children Mrs. Waugh leaves to mourn her loss, three little grandsons, Carl and Claire Waugh and Bernard Rickets. Two sisters, Mrs. Frank Rhone of Barney and Mrs. George Keys of Billings, Montana. Five brothers, Robert of Colona, Colorado; John of Lorimor; William of Churchville; Elias of Peru; and Thomas of Los Angeles, California and many other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Waugh united with the Church of Christ at Barney in the year of 1914 and remained a faithful member until her death.

She was a devoted mother, a loving wife, a faithful friend and will be greatly missed in the community where she has spent her entire life.

Services were held at Barney Church of Christ at 2 o’clock Tuesday with the Rev. H. L. Olmstead having charge.
