Maxine W. Lorimor-Godby, 81, of Earlham, died Friday, Nov. 14, 1997 of cancer in Minneapolis, Minn. A funeral service was held Nov. 19, 1997 at the First Presbyterian Church in Earlham, with burial following at the Earlham Cemetery in Earlham. Arangements were made by Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham.

Mrs. Lorimor-Godby was born May 2, 1916 in Wales to Thomas and Wynona Woodling Jones. She graduated from Wales Community School and from Jennie Edmundson School of Nursing in Council Bluffs.

Mrs. Lorimor-Godby married Carl Evans (Joe) Lorimor on Jan. 1, 1940. The couple moved to Earlham, where Mrs. Lorimor-Godby lived her entire adult life. Mrs. Lorimor-Godby then married Graham (Jack) Godby on July 1, 1976. She worked as a registered nurse at the Dexter Hospital until retiring. Mrs. Lorimor-Godby was an active member of the Earlham Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Lorimor-Godby is survived by one daughter, Karen Patek of Richfield, Minn.; one sister, Janice Krueger of Tulsa, Okla.; one brother, Wayne Jones of Council Bluffs; and two grandchildren.

Mrs. Lorimor-Godby was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands; one son, Dennis; and two brothers, Aubrey and Dale.

Maxine W. Lorimor-Godby, 81, of Minneapolis died of cancer Friday at Walker Methodist Health Care Center there. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Earlham Presbyterian Church, of which she was a member. Burial will be at Earlham Cemetery.

Mrs. Lorimor-Godby was born in Wales, Ia., and lived most of her life in Earlham before moving to Minneapolis over a year ago. She formerly was a registered nurse at Dexter Hospital and belonged to Eastern Star, P.E.O. of Dexter and Earlham Chautauqua Club.

Surviving are a daughter, Karen Patek of Richfield, Minn.; a sister, Janice Krueger of Tulsa, Okla.; a brother, Wayne Jones of Council Bluffs; and two grandchildren.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at Kuhn Funeral Home in Earlham, where the family will be present from 6 to 8 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to her church’s Handicap Access Fund.
