Carolyn Ramsey Simms, 75, Hamburg, Penn., died April 2, 1997, at Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Hamburg, Pa., from heart failure.

Graveside funeral services were April 6, at Bear Creek Cemetery in rural Earlham. Kuhn Funeral Homes in Earlham was in charge of funeral arrangements.

Survivors include her husband Harry Simms, Knoxville, a daughter Lynette Christensen, Panora; a son Dr. Harry Simms, Sebastopol, Calif., and one granddaughter.

Carolyn R. Ramsey was born July 15, 1921, in Franklinville, N.J. She graduated from Upper Darby High School and then attended Women's Homeopathic Hospital in Philadelphia where she earned her degree in nursing. While in nurses training, she contracted tuberculosis and underwent two years of treatment. She was employed as the head psychiatric nurse at Harrisburg, Pa., where she worked until her retirement in 1987.

She was raised with a Quaker inclination and although she never lived near Bear Creek Cemetery, she wanted to be buried there near her family.
