Dorothy Jean (Cross) Wilkinson, 81, passed away on Wednesday, May 3, 2006, of cancer at Iowa Health Hospice Taylor House.
Services were held Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Hamilton’s Funeral Home, with burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
Dorothy was born May 12, 1924, in Des Moines to Levi and Frances (Cox) Cross. She graduated from East High School and lived in Des Moines all her life. She worked for Farm Bureau, EMC, and retired from BC/BS in 1986. Dorothy married William L. (Bill) Wilkinson, a native of Winterset in 1954. Together, they attended Winterset’s sporting events for many years.
She is survived by her sisters, June (Gordon) Cubbage of Des Moines, Katherine Harris of Camarillo, Calif., Carolyn Manley of Fountain, Colo., Lelah Allbaugh of Ogden, Utah, and Ellen Sparks of Waukee; one brother, Marvin L. Cross of Stillwell, Kan.; one step-son, Larry Edwards of Winchester, Calif.; five step-grandchildren and two step-great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bill, in 2003, brothers, Dale and Alva (Buss) Cross and one sister, Esther Whitney.
