DELLA MAE SPURGIN, Winterset

Della Mae Spurgin, 89, died Monday, May 8, 2006, at the Winterset Care Center South.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Thursday, May 11, 2006, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. A visitation will be held today (Wednesday) from 2 to 8 p.m. at Ochiltree Funeral Service & Aftercare, where the family will be present to receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be at the Winterset Cemetery.

Della Mae was born July 17, 1916 in Winterset, Iowa, the daughter of Ernest and Rosa (Husted) Leinard. On November 5, 1939, Della Mae Leinard was united in marriage to Charles Raymond Spurgin at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winterset, a member of the Winterset Women’s Club, and a member of the National Federation of Music Clubs, as well as State and Local Chapters. She even served for several years on the Board of the National Federation of Music Clubs.

Della Mae is survived by several nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Raymond, who preceded her in death on February 26, 2006; two sisters, Inez Foster and Mary Vesta Reed, and a brother, Thomas Leinard.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the First United Methodist Church and the Friends of the Winterset Public Library.
