DEAN CONARD, 28, DIES AT IOWA CITY

Young Man Fails to Survive Delicate Heart Surgery

Earl Dean Conard, aged 28, of Winterset, died at University hospital in Iowa City last Thursday, Nov. 3, following heart surgery.

The young man was born in Adair county on May 21, 1932, a son of Earl and Ruth Veatch Conard. He came with his family to Winterset in 1947, and his home has been here since that time.

He had been employed at the Club cafe and Aldo Cafe and Bizz-mart store at various times.

He had been in delicate health as a result of a heart condition for many years and surgery was undertaken in the hope of correcting that condition. His death occurred a few hours after the operation.

Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Earl Conard of Winterset; two sisters, Mrs. Fred Meyer and Mrs. Ronald Mead of Winterset and a brother, Kenneth Conard of Omaha.

Funeral services were held Saturday from the Grace Baptist church, conducted by the pastor, the Rev. Richard G. Mohr. Burial was made in the Winterset cemetery.
