Blanche Compton, Winterset

Services for Blanche Compton, 85, Winterset, who died Nov. 24 at the Park Ridge Manor in Des Moines, were held Saturday, Nov. 28, at the Collins Funeral Home with the Rev. Eldon Cole of Earlham officiating. Burial was at the Winterset Cemetery.

Born at Patterson on June 30, 1902, she was the daughter of William and Mary Villiar Stephenson. She was married to Dempsey E. Wilson who died Dec. 27, 1955. She was married to Royal Compton Jan. 9, 1969 and he preceded her in death Sept 30, 1985.

A housekeeper, Mrs. Compton worked in the laundry department of the Madison County Memorial Hospital and was a member of the Friends Church at Earlham.

Survivors include sons, Earl E. Wilson of Des Moines and Virgil L. Wilson of Nevada, Iowa; a stepson, Glen Compton of California; a daughter, Fern Downard of Des Moines; step-daughters, Avis Kenworthy of Earlham and Pauline Tuttle of Cucamonga, Calif.; and several grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, four brothers and three sisters.
